The referral dogs are dogs (sometimes kitties) from local area animal shelters or individuals' homes that need assistance. Check here if you don't see the dog for you in our Dogs Available section.

So you found a stray?  Click here if you've found a stray or need suggestions for an owner surrender.

To place a dog that you have found or a dog that needs to find a home on this referral site, please send a digital picture of your dog and a brief description via email to referral@bluedogrescue.com and donate safely and securely via PayPal.  We do require that all dogs on our referral page be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and is on heartworm preventative.  A $20 donation for listing the dog is appreciated.

The dogs listed on this page are not Blue Dogs.  The bios and descriptions are not written by Blue Dog. Please contact the individual listed in the dog's description for more information.

Blue Dog makes NO guarantee as to the health or temperament of any of the dogs on this referral page.  When adopting any dog, be informed and ask questions about the dog's health status.  Ask for verification of vaccination and heartworm preventative.  Be aware of temperament and ask questions to verify the dog will fit into your family.  To avoid potentially costly problems, be an informed adopter and ask your vet about important health and temperament issues before adopting an animal.

Consider using an Adoption Application and Adoption Agreement when inquiring about the animals on this page.  The documents are made available through PETA's Animal Angels resources.

Kiera

Kiera is a one and a half year old spayed Great Pyrenees/Golden mix. She is a big, beautiful, AMAZING dog. Kiera was having pack issues at her home, and needs a new owner capable of giving her the leadership she needs.

Kiera is social, VERY smart, playful, HIGH energy, sassy, clever, sweet and silly. If introduced properly, she has excellent dog skills. She especially enjoys small dogs and puppies, but plays well with big dogs also.

Her past owners have worked her through several basic obedience classes, so she has had some training! Kiera was basically just too much dog for her past owners. She was unfortunately receiving mixed signals and inconsistent handling in her home, which was causing her to redirect onto one of her canine pack mates. She has some anxiety issues that can cause her to be inconsistently weird with certain dogs. She is in desperate need of an owner who can work with her to bring out her full potential- in the right home, she is very “fixable”. We'd be happy to send anyone interested an assessment/evaluation letter from Lee Mannix. info@hiphounds.com

Blue

Blue is a wonderfully intelligent dog. He truly fits into your life like a family member. He would be a good therapy dog because he knows when you are feeling stressed or happy and he acts like he understands. If my knees hurt in the morning and I walk slowly Blue walks slowly with me.
He is a Great Pyrenees mix. He is 85 pounds of pure love. Very very athletic and loves toys, other dogs, small dogs, all people and kids. But he may startle a smaller child when he says Hello! He is 2 years old and he is fixed with all shots current. He needs a good fence. He loves being inside and outside both. Just wherever his human is is fine with him. He would be a great frisbee dog, running dog and a good companion for your new puppy while you go to work and he would be happiest with another dog to play with. I rescued him months ago and now I am traveling and he is getting lonely. Please email Hazel. hbalken@speakeasy.net.

Deputy Chip

Chip, fondly know as "the Dude" around these parts, is well known for his energy and vigorous policing of his territory. All visitors, whether they be human, canine, feline, squirrel must check in with the local law while visiting. Chip tolerates no shenanigans in his town. He recently added frogs to that list. He had to bust one for disturbing the peace in the wee hours. Chip keeps in shape for his law enforcement duties by taking a 3.8 mile hike daily, and practicing his power jumps---vertical 4 ft. Since he is in law enforcement, he really appreciates living in a home that runs a tight ship and enforces good rules---this is something he can understand and flourish in. What is missing in Chip's life is that he needs a Sheriff with whom to partner. Keeping the peace is a lonely business, and his preference would be public outreach--take the message to the masses. He is currently accepting applications for that post. It pays in kisses, snuggles, very funny sights, and the best little partner for running, agility, patrolling in the car you will ever have. He does expect you to follow his good example of wear a seat belt and protective eye wear while in the car.

Job reqs: active, good leadership skills, calm enforcement of the law (no police brutality cases, please), currently does not have a partner in crime fighting, and willing to participate in continuing education. Chip really wants to give agility a whirl. There are some tests he needs to make lieutenant, CGC and scaling the 6 ft wall. He is ready if you are!

Chip is approximately 8 months of age as of 11/2007. Pug/Corgi , neutered male, 22 pounds. For more information about Deputy Chip contact: jane.delre@gmail.com.

Sweetie Pie

My name is Sweetie Pie. I am a four year old spayed female Oriental. In case you are not familiar with that breed, I am part Siamese and part American Short Hair. I am very reluctantly looking for a new home. I love my mistress very much but I am having difficulty sharing her with her husband, a poodle named Maddie and a 16 year old blind Persian cat named Gypsey. You see, I am very possessive and like a lot of attention, so I am not happy in my current situation. I am very playful, curious, and affectionate. I like to sleep under the covers next to a warm body. I am very healthy, in fact, all my vaccinations are up to date. I eat IAMS and love Pounce treats. Oh, by the way, I am an indoor cat and my front paws have been removed. If you can provide me with an awesome home, please contact gregmcd@austin.rr.com for more information.

Josie

Think "Marley and Me" ... and you'll have an idea about what it was like when Josie first arrived. Whew! Young Labs are so different from the Aussies and Border Collies I usually foster! Fortunately, I had the benefit of Lee Mannix obedience training ( www.lmccb.com ) to help her get civilized. More important, Josie is smart. Within just a few tries, she was walking loose on a leash, and is now a star in her obedience class. She'll also sit without a peep of complaint in her crate for hours at a time (which she had to do during her heartworm treatment) and there is no way she's storm phobic like poor old Marley. She is in loooove with riding in the car and chewing her toys and chasing scents and snuggling in your lap. But mostly, Josie is in love with the fact that humans are finally paying attention to her, and giving her the affection she craves. She's about 1.5 years old and 40 pounds, a Lab mix. Email me! Kathryn.A.Page@guarantygroup.com.

Miss Abby

Experienced Walking Buddy - Hi, I'm Abby. I'm a beautiful Black Lab/Pit Bull Terrier mix who is way too cute. I was born on 3/29/07—rescued on 4/1/07 along with my Mom and 9 siblings. I was adopted on August 2nd and thought I was a keeper, but my new owner has decided I'm getting too big. (Both of my parents weigh approx 50 lbs) So, here I am...still hoping I will steal someone's heart. I'm super healthy—been spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and currently on flea and heartworm prevention. I'm house trained (got the dog door down), walk well on a leash and I'm socialized with other dogs. I'm entertaining, eager to please, laid back, independent, and very, very sweet. My most favorite things are long walks (love the Austin parks), swimming, fetching, and hanging out with other dogs and people. If you are one of those "dog lovers" who is searching for a young, loyal, fun companion to hang out with, please answer this ad. For more information about Abby contact: dee.wall1@gmail.com.

Bear

Look at that sweet face!!! He is saying "Love You!" This adorable dog is named Bear. He is looking for a new home because his guardian died. He is a handsome Lab mix. He wants you to know that black dogs are nice and often get overlooked, so don't scroll past him because of this. Bear is a big boy; he weighs about 80 pounds. Bear likes other dogs and is not pushy. He loves activity, but does not bounce off the walls. He has nice house manners, but loves to be
outside too. He is 5 years old. Bear would make a good jogging partner. Bear's adoption comes with a free adults basic class with the Lee Mannix center. Email Suzy for more info - suzyswingle@yahoo.com.

Molly

Molly is a Catahoula hound mix with all of the classic Catahoula traits. She weighs about 45 pounds, is intelligent, quick, energetic and very loving. Molly is less than a year old, is current on all of her shots, has been spayed, and is on heartworm preventative medication. She kennels very well. We are asking $100 for Molly.  Catahoulas are inquisitive and have an independent streak., but the Catahoula temperament is not suited for everyone. These dogs tend to be very protective of territory and family, and are assertive. Her independent nature, high energy and physical strength would make Molly “too much dog” for an inexperienced owner. Ideally, Molly should have obedience training, secure confinement on the owner’s property, and a daily outlet for her energy. The ideal place for Molly would be a rural setting where she has plenty of space to run, swim and explore. Contact dawn@bestfriendsboarding.com email or 800-922-4581 (Toll Free) at Best Friend’s Kennel, or her foster home at 512-303-7665.

Jordan

This sweet, happy girl is looking for a soft place to land. Her name is Jordan and she either lost her way or was thrown away by her former guardians. She is a dream dog - medium to low energy, affectionate, smart, and beautiful. Jordan is a Border Collie (she could be mixed with something else). She is about 5 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. Jordan is housebroken. She likes other dogs, not sure about cats. Jordan does have arthritis in her hind end. She has had hip surgery and sometimes needs a little pain medication. This does not mean she is down-n-out. Jordan loves to go for walks and rides in the car. We think she has had some training in the past. Contact suzyswingle@yahoo.com for more information.

Pebbles

Pebbles is a well-loved, 3-year-old, 50-lb, spayed black-and-white female in great health. She has had all of her shots and takes regular heartworm and flea prevention. She is mellow in the daytime, but has lots of energy on walks and loves to swim for balls. She plays regularly at the dog park and with our 12-year-old daughter, and with her toys. She is crate and house-trained, and would make a great agility dog as she has easily learned to do tricks like finding our daughter in the house on command, or sitting until she gets a signal to eat or fetch a ball. She will even lie down in a state of extreme excitement while waiting for us to get ready for our walks. Our life has changed such that we are not home for long periods, so need to find a home quickly. Please call 512.632.5677 or email pebbles45362@yahoo.com.

Cricket

Cricket is an amazing dog. She was found, out near Bastrop, in a pen with several other dogs. The dogs were never taken out of their pen and only had human contact, once a week when their person would take a bag of food and throw it to them. Because of this hard beginning, Cricket came to us with calluses on her hind quarters, obviously having had numerous litters, over weight, scarred and with a case of heart worms. We thought we were going to have a hard case on our hands. I am happy to say that Cricket is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever fostered. She is house trained, knows a few commands, is super smart and a HUGE lover. Nothing makes her happier than to have her head on your lap or be sleeping at your feet when you are watching TV or working on the computer. Well, maybe one thing, she LOVES to go for walks or short jogs. She is not running high mileage but 3 to 4 miles at a 9:30 plus pace is great. This photo was taken after Cricket won 3rd place dog at the Petfest 5K. She also loves the dog park. So, if you are looking for a calm dog but who loves to be active, Cricket is the girl for you. She gets along great with her two doggie housemates and her kitty housemate. She is spayed, over her heart worms, and current on all shots. Having been outside, on the hard earth, most of the first two years of her life, I am hoping to find Cricket a forever home where she will not spend her days outdoors but will have access, at all times, to a nice, soft pillow inside. Please contact me if you are interested in Cricket marlawanda@gmail.com.

Princess

Princess is a girl who likes to live up to her name. Lazing in bed with lots of toys and belly rubs is her idea of the good life. It's certainly an
improvement over the side of the busy road where she was found! Princess was abandoned with several other dogs near Parmer and 290, and this poor little baby had just had babies of her own. Boy, has her life in changed since then!

Princess is an American Staffordshire Terrier, about a year old, spayed, and up-to-date on her shots. She's crate- and house-trained, and is in private lessons and a group obedience class at the Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior. Though he did term her slightly "emotional" ("Please don't say I'm in trouble!!!"), Lee says Princess has the ideal personality for obedience, and would probably excel at Agility or other advanced training. More than anything, Princess wants a family of her own. She's an affectionate girl who loves to lounge and watch TV with her people. She's starting to hang out with her foster brother, a Boxer, but she would probably be happiest as an only dog. Email Chris at cmmacleod@gmail.com to meet this gorgeous girl!

UPDATE: Princess has now completed an Adult Obedience class at Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior. Lee has donated 2 free private lessons to her future adopter. She now lives and plays happily with her foster brother!

Yogi

Yogi, the FAMOUS FROG HUNTER is how this boy should be known! Yogi is having a grand time chasing all the frogs and toads that have surfaced with the rain. He is also an avid fly catcher and will earn his keep by ensuring no unwanted bugs or pests are in your house. Yogi has been living with a professional dog trainer as his foster, so he is one of the best trained dogs we have ever had available. He knows sit and down so well that a 3 yr old can ask him to do either and he will. He also sits politely for his dinner, waiting until he is told "free" before he will scarf it down with a gusto. He walks very well on the leash. He will wait at the door and does not door dart-though if you do not ask, he will meander out for a quick romp after the deer or squirrels.

Yogi crates superbly, never muttering a word, nor fussing over going into it-you simply open it and ask him to kennel up and he does. He rides well in the car- He has not taken food off the counter (a coffee table is NOT a counter as Yogi explains). He understands "leave it" and though he follows the toddler, he will not take her food if she tells him no. Yogi is trustworthy in the house, does not get on the furniture and will give back a ball he has retrieved...though when he is done, he goes to a different room. :)

As you can see, Yogi has extremely good manners. He thinks life is a great big game and would be great for a couple or a single who want to have a companion. Yogi thinks cats and small dogs are dinner though, so this does need to be taken into consideration. He is also not particularly a fan of jogging, though a brisk walk is good fun. Yogi is happy and healthy and ready for his forever home. If Yogi sounds like the dog for you, please consider applying for him as this teddy bear has been looking and waiting for a very long time.  hotlr@hotlabrescue.org

Jasmine

Jasmine is the All American Girl. She's got looks, personality, and charm...everything that everybody is looking for. She's a miniature heeler mix (20 lbs) and is currently receiving some basic obedience training. She doesn't dig or nip heels, and only barks when there's something she wants to alert you to. Jasmine is a happy, happy girl and is always ready to greet you with a smile, tail wag, and a bounce in the air. Once you meet her she will steal your heart! Jasmine is current on all vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, crate trained, and ready to go to her forever home. She was pulled into the Georgetown Shelter as a stray and wasn't doing well there, so we took her into foster care. We've had her for about 2 months and are getting to know her well now. She really is a tiny girl - very smart and savvy. We think she's under 3 years old and will be a great companion. For more information go to georgetowndogrescue.com or contact Laura, her foster coordinator, at txcodigirl@gmail.com.

Jax

Jax is a wonderful two-and-a half year-old mixed breed – everyone tells us he must be part malamute due to the distinctive markings on his face. He is 60 pounds of long-legged speed, the fastest dog around. He’s mild-mannered, playful (he loves to catch balls), smart, healthy as a horse and extremely happy to make friends, especially with kids but he’ll do his all-body wag for just about anybody. He loves to lie at your feet while you watch tv, and his overall comportment is peaceful, gentle and obedient. He is appropriately submissive and not particularly food driven – we can take absolutely anything out of his mouth without so much as a growl. He has had basic obedience training, is completely house- and crate-trained, loves the company of other dogs and even seems to like cats. He will make a great buddy for kids and adults alike -- ideal for a family situation.

Ruby

Ruby is a sweet 2 year-old, 60 pound Australian Shepherd that is looking for a loving, active family! She is a red tri-color. Her mom was a red merle and dad a red tri-color. She is spayed, up to date on shots, microchiped, and on heartworm preventative and on Frontline. She loves to go for walks and runs, fetch tennis balls, and go for swims. She lives in a home without children so she is not used to them and could use training in that area or to be in a home without children. For adoption information, please contact Laura Wilson at 512-461-2295 or laurawilson111@yahoo.com.

Sheila

Meet Sheila. She's a blue-eyed, adult (5 yrs), full-bred blue merle. She's smart, athletic and graceful. She loves people, but is dog aggressive. She has not been around children, so would do best in an adult, single-dog environment. She's fine inside or outdoors, but a bit of an escape artist so a secure fence is needed. She walks off-leash and knows sit, stay and down. Sheila's challenges: she is skittish and a bit hyper, but eager to please. She is also very sensitive and jealous of other dogs getting human attention. Right now, Sheila lives with an aggressive chow-mix and their relationship has become toxic. For her own safety and well-being, she needs (and deserves) a single-dog home with owners who can engage her quick mind and athletic lifestyle.

Sheila is spayed, her shots are current and she is on flea and heartworm prevention. We are asking for a $50 adoption fee which will be donated to animal rescue. Thanks so much. Candice ( 512.799.8685 or woodyindc@yahoo.com)

Millie

Hi there, my name is Millie! I am just about the cutest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet. It’s sort of amazing, really, given the start I had in life. My foster mom found me in the middle of the street one day and later learned that I had been pushed out of a car and abandoned (one of my foster neighbors saw the whole thing!). I was very, very skinny and had lacerations on my legs and tail and had a pretty bad case of demodex. Now, with some TLC, plenty of food and the icky meds my foster mom gave me for the demodex, I am a whole new dog! You can see in my picture what a cutie I’ve turned out to be and my fur is really soft. Now I spend my days lounging around or playing with my new best friend Ramona (the family dog). I am one of the most people-oriented dogs my mom has ever seen. I’m very affectionate and I’ll do anything for a belly rub! One of my signature “moves” is to rest my head on my mom’s lap and make eyes at her until she laughs and scratches my ears. I come every time I am called - you don’t even have to call my name, just click your tongue or whistle and I am there! I’m also doing great on housetraining – I only had one accident in the house early on – and I’m pretty good walking on a leash (though the occasional cat will get me pulling!). As far as the basics – the vet thinks I am about 9 months old, in good health, currently 35 lbs (expected to be about 45 eventually) and probably a Pointer mix. I really like to play, so I would love to have a home with another dog (though this is not required) and I’ll definitely need people who can spend time playing with me and going for walks. Please email my foster mom Sarahkirby@gmail.com for more information about me.

Chase

Hi, my name is Chase and I am a male, red Chow Chow weighing about 45 lbs and am about 6 or 7 years old. See, I had been lonely for quite some time and didn’t have the best life before that. Although I would love to tell you about everything in detail, I will give a short recap on how my foster parents have helped me overcome all my obstacles. I was extremely neglected, stray, sunburned, bitten by an animal in the face, severely infected with spear grass, shot in the side, infested with fleas, heartworm, tapeworm, broken teeth, testicular cancer, and extremely malnourished. Now I am happy to report that I have had everything taken care of and only cried ONCE. I am enjoying the love I am shown, am fond of my new crate, my hair is finally coming back (the cancer made it hard to grow), the .22 bullet has been removed, my bite on my face is all healed, and the fleas are far gone. I had heartworm treatment 4 weeks ago, tapeworm was treated in June, I was neutered and they removed the tumor, so now I am cancer free and I am eating great! Did I tell you I’ve had all my shots, too? I play well with female dogs, but have never been around cats or babies. If you are interested in loving me and providing a safe home for me, please e-mail my foster mom. She likes to talk about me, alot! BDieter@austin.rr.com.

Dottie

About two weeks ago this little gal showed up on my front porch. I heard through neighbors that another neighbor moved away and abandoned her. I think she may be some sort of herding breed but not sure of the exact mix. Kelpie maybe? She has strong herding tendencies and tries to herd my sheep, hens, cats, and toads in the yard. She is very sweet and loves hugs, to crawl in your lap, can shake paws, etc. Chases cats but does not hurt them, just seems fascinated with them and wants to play. She doesn't like being alone and wants always to be right near. She is spayed, heartworm tested (YAY, negative), vaccinated for rabies and DHPP, dewormed, Frontline flea control applied and nails trimmed. If you're interested, please contact Debra at 512-922-3275.

Izzy

Hi, my name is Isabella Rottelini.....but you can call me Izzy. I was unceremoniously dumped in a parking lot with three of my kids last year. All of us were lucky enough to get into a foster home, but I

sure would like to have a place of my own. My requirements are simple---I want someone to love me and pay lots of attention to me. I LOVE to be the center of attention! My hobbies include chasing balls and playing in the baby pool, but I am just as happy to hang out and watch TV with you, as long as I can be as close to you as possible. I like to snuggle on the couch and crawl into a lap, even though I weigh about 60 pounds. Who says lap dogs have to be little? There's more of me to love! Did I mention that I love a good snack?

My foster mom thinks I might be part lab and part Rottweiler, with maybe a little hound thrown in, but my background is not that important. What really counts are my qualifications to be a member of your family. If you have another dog already, that's OK with me. I get along with most other dogs, but not so much with cats. I'm housetrained, crate-trained, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go! Please contact my foster mom at Keely.Joseph@ni.com for more information about me.

Emily

Meet Emily. Emily is a friendly stray dog that I found about 3 weeks ago. I have taken her to a vet and she received all necessary shots, including the rabies shot. Since her heartworm test was negative, I have given her Heart Guard. She is now flee and tick free and seems to be in good health according to the vet. The vet estimates that she is about 1 year old and possibly spayed. We are not sure of her breed (mixed). She weighs 56 pounds and has very long legs. She is very playful and seems to get along with other dogs and people. If you're interested, please contact Simone at sdail@suddenlink.net or at 512-989-9332.

Sheila

Sheila is a female Collie approximately 5-7 years old. She is spayed, up to date on all her shots and HW negative. She is a very loving girl who was found on the streets of S. Austin where she had escaped being locked up in a business backyard 24/7. She is looking for a loving home who does not have any cats but does get along with other dogs. She loves to go for walks and give kisses. Sheila is a all around beautiful girl and would love to make some family happy as I know that there is a special family out there wanting to make her happy. If you are interested in Sheila please contact Lori at 512-619-9679.

Sugar Plum

Sugar Plum was just recently rescued from Lampasas Animal Shelter in horrible condition. Her hair was so long and matted that her paws were painful to walk on. As you can see by her picture she is fully healed and more importantly properly groomed. She is an indoor dog that will go to the front door and bark when she needs to go outside and do her business. She loves to sleep in bed with you at night and if you don't want her to she will sleep on the floor beside your bed. When you get home she is so excited to see you, she will perform a little dance for you that will brighten your day.

Sugar Plum is low maintenance, but DESERVES a family that will love her and hold her while watching TV or laying on the bed while the kids do homework. She is ready to go home with the right family.

Please call Robbin Gatling at 512-422-9404 or email Robbin@buywest.com to setup an appt. to visit Sugar Plum and her roommates.

Pauly

This wonderful 16 month old boy is ready for some serious play time! Pauly started out as his parents neighbors dog, but because they didn't vaccinate him, he cam down with Parvo at about 6 months. The original owners refused to take him to the vet so his foster parents nursed him back to health and now he is definitely ready to romp!! He is extremely curious, loving, and expressive. He is a fast learner, is crate trained and knows how to sit and down. He will do anything for a treat! Tennis balls and nylabones are his all time favorite toys and he LOVES to splash around in the water! He weighs about 65 lbs. Pauly is neutered, up to date on all shots, and microchipped! Please contact Jessica at 512-484-9754 or email jessicarussell2@gmail.com if interested.

Maverick

Maverick is 3 years old, heart worm negative, and on preventative treatment. He is approximately 80 lbs., neutered, and has only had 1 owner since the day he was born. His mother was my brother-in-law's dog, my husband was there the minute Maverick was born. He was the first one born hence the name, he was the Maverick of the litter. His medical record is completely clean and all his shots are up to date. He does jump fences so if he is going to be outside he would have to have a privacy fence. He is very curious and loves to inspect any new addition to the house whether it be a bag of groceries or a new pair of shoes. He is a snuggle bug who refuses to lay on anything that is not squishy and warm, including piles of laundry. His 2 favorite past times are playing with his Kong (which has lasted for 2 years with no damage) which he will throw in the air for himself and bat it all over the house, and sleeping with his owners (he likes to sleep with his head on the pillow like a person). His ears are the cutest thing ever, he cocks his head and pricks them up when you talk to him, he sits, lays down, and shakes. He is a wonderful dog but is not for anyone who is not home alot. He has alot of energy and needs to be played with, and not left alone all the time. He needs someone to love him as much as we do. meganford742@gmail.com.

Mudpie

Like his name says, Mudpie loves to cool off in the mud and play in the water. He loves people and other dogs, a good game of tug-o-war, and peanut butter doggie snacks. Jeri's the red-head on the left, and the dark handsome guy on the right is Harley.  Their human is relocating overseas and sadly cannot take them with her.  Their favorite pastime is being outside and keeping watch over their yard or just relaxing (read: sleeping) in the sunshine. They also enjoy a good hug and scratching. They're both very watchful and loyal dogs and would be a great addition to the proper home.

Jeri is a 11-year-old female chow mix and Harley is a 10 1/2-year-old male black lab mix.  They've been spayed and neutered.  Both have enjoyed excellent health their whole lives, although they're moving a bit slower now.  The vet has said that Jeri has a touch of arthritis, so when it bothers her, she gets half a Rimadyl and that fixes her right up.   They're both current on their shots and preventative heartworm and flea treatment.  Of course, they're both house trained.

Neither dog has spent a lot of time around small children or other dogs.  They do okay at the dog park but Jeri can be a bit snippy if she feels threatened.  They don't like cats and shouldn't be in a household with them.

If you think you'd enjoy their love and companionship and would like to have Jeri and Harley live with you for the rest of their lives, please contact me by email and I will forward an adoption application. Thanks for considering. imahappycamper@mac.com

Jesse

Jesse is a 6.5 yr old Border Collie desperately looking for home of FOSTER home. Jesse needs to be on inexpensive joint supplements daily for his hips. Jesse's former owners were not committed to providing him with his daily supplements (2 pills which he takes without hassle) so they asked his vet to euthanize him. Jesse's vet felt that euthanasia for such a manageable condition would be unethical, so she decided she would take Jesse as her own. Jesse's owners gladly signed Jesse over to his doctor. Unfortunately Jesse's vet's personal dogs were not as happy to help Jesse out and would not accept him as a new family member. Jesse's vet is desperately searching for a new or temporary home for this sweet guy. Jesse is very obedient and knows several commands and cool tricks. He does best with female dogs and no cats or assertive cats. Jesse is neutered, up-to-date on vax and heartworm prevention and fully housebroken. If you can help with Jesse, please call Stacy @ 653-5442.

Angel

Angel is a Great Pyrenees/Golden mix (per the vet) and is really loveable, house broken and loves to play with kids or just in general. She is a inside dog mostly but will stay outside sometimes when the weather is nice, not all night though.

I also have her crate trained and will donate her crate with her. She is current on all of her shots (I have her shot record) and has been fixed and micro-chipped. 512-514-1955 or MMCCOWN5@Austin.rr.com.

Clyde and Luna

These two are very bonded, as both came from abandonment situations in their early years. They were later adopted by the same gentle, quiet man and for a year and a half, and the three made a happy family. The dogs learned to love to go for rides in the car and walks around the neighborhood with their dad. Sadly, their hero suddenly passed away, leaving them alone again. His girlfriend loves them and they love her, but her own dog does not and she also has several cats; and it seems Luna has too much prey drive to live with cats. We can't bear to think of splitting up this pair, as they love to play together, as well as rely on each other for comfort and companionship.

Clyde and Luna don't ask much: A quiet home with one or two sensitive, patient people who will give them time to warm up on their own schedule (kids make them nervous). A yard with a couple of trees to provide opportunities for squirrel and bird watching. Regular walks and occasional car rides. A doggy door would be nice. Although both of these dogs are very shy, they have never shown any aggression. They just like to get "away" or melt into a "dog-puddle" and not move. Once they get to know you, they are affectionate--it just takes awhile. In return, they will keep your yard squirrel-free. They will provide early warning services. Both offer wonderful petting opportunities. Their loyalty, once they settle in, is its own reward. Clyde and Luna are up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention, are altered, and microchipped. For more information email austinaussierescue@hotmail.com or call (512) 303-1987.

Chewie

This is Chewie. Chow mix between 5-6 years. Chewie is currently having to stay in a home where is crated most of the time really needs a new home with the ability to move around and run. He loves to play and is well trained but can be a little stubborn. He's quite a silly dog. Any questions, please ask. Jessica-jessicagardner@cox-internet.com

Daisy

Daisy is a sweet, fun-loving girl who is good with other dogs of all sizes and cats (we don't have the opportunity to test her with kids). She is 9 months to a year old, spayed and current on all of her shots.  We are currently fostering her, and would keep her if we could. She suffered some neglect from her previous owner, but it hasn't affected her wonderful personality. She loves to play with other dogs and sleep at her person's feet. If you would like to have Daisy at your feet, please contact us at a1live72@yahoo.com or 512-762-0105.

Thumper

Thumper is the brown dog in the pictures. The black one is her sister. Thumper is a very sweet and simple dog. All she wants is attention and to be pet, with an occasional outing. She knows simple commands, like come, go, sit, down, wait (when she wants), and leave it. She loves being with her owner, but has trouble not being the alpha dog. She is vocal. She makes certain noises when she does not like what is happening or wants attention, which is not barking or growling, but something else. One drawback is that she becomes aggressive when exposed to a submissive dog. Otherwise, she plays well with other dogs, although vocal. She would be great in a household that could give her attention and with an owner who would enjoy just sitting on the couch while petting Thumper, who would sit on the floor next to the couch. She does not fetch, has improved at swimming, and likes to go running/walking on trails.

Thumper is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and HW negative. For more information on Thumper, email me at minor.wisdom@gmail.com.
