About

Blue Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, funded by donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees. All donations are Federal Tax deductible.

Because we are a network of foster families, there is no shelter facility. Individuals interested in adopting a dog must fill out an adoption application available on the dog’s website page.

Medical Care

Blue Dog rescues receive a health exam by a veterinarian, the vaccinations appropriate for its age, and a heart-worm test and preventative. All dogs of 6-months-old or older are spayed or neutered. Dogs under 6-months-old are adopted under the agreement that they will be spayed or neutered at the appropriate time.

Temperament Testing

We keep each dog for a minimum of seven days in order to assess their personality, temperament, and training needs. By doing this we are able to ensure that we place each dog in the most suitable home.

Foster Homes

Check our events page for upcoming opportunities. Our fosters’ care and knowledge of these dogs makes them excellent matchmakers between you and your future companion. We promote good emotional health in Blue Dog rescues through foster-family dynamics and often life-skills training classes.

Meet the Dogs

Because we are a network of foster families, there is no shelter facility. The dogs can be seen at our Meet the Dogs or other events, or by special arrangement.

Adoption Interest

Individuals interested in adopting a dog must fill out an adoption application and be interviewed in order to ensure that the needs of both the individual and the dog are met. The nature of our adoption process, home visits, and trial periods dictate that our dogs are only available to adopters in the immediate Central Texas area. Thanks to our generous donors, our adoption fee is only $180.

Do you know what kind of dog you are looking for? Either way, we can help you exit stage left with the perfect new best friend.
