Tiny Esso! Like an episode of 'Cops,' he was dumped in a rural shelter by the police after his owner was taken away. He already had a broken leg from 2 or 3 years ago. After calls to the owner's family, no one ever came for him, so a plea was sent to Blue Dog. He just seemed like such a sweet little guy, who was totally overwhelmed by the shelter. After a few days of R&R in a home with good food and a soft bed, Esso made what may have been his first ever trip to the vet. The doctor confirmed the break in his leg was an old one. His teeth were awful (just like an episode of 'Cops!') and he was unneutered. Once under anesthesia, they amputated the front left leg; took care of the neuter and then looked in his mouth.The vet was unable to save any of his teeth. And had to do some skin grafts to cover a fissure in the roof of his mouth. Esso is toothless now, but probably feeling better than he has in a long time. He even dances on his two hind legs for his foster momma.
