Phoebe joined Blue Dog Rescue from the medical ward at Austin Animal Center where she was brought in as a stray with an injured front leg and a raging infection. X-rays and a physical exam determined that she had a severe abscess from a bite and had developed osteomyelitis (an infection in the bone). This is a serious condition that is being aggressively treated with appropriate antibiotics for a minimum of three months. The good news is that she has improved over the last month and is playful and happy and growing daily. We are hopeful but guarded that she will regain the full use of her leg and completely recover. Phoebe is a precious pup with a sweet personality. She loves her foster people and dogs, as well as every other dog and human she meets. Fetch is a favorite, as is cuddling and visits out and about. She is ready to meet interested families but she won't be available for adoption until later in April or May.
