1. Adoption applications are reviewed thoroughly and the approved applicant is based on what the foster believes will be the best fit for both the family and the dog.
2. Phone and in-home interviews will be conducted to ensure that the needs of both the individual and the dog are met.
3. If the dog and individual are a good match, a home visit will occur for a minimum of 1 week prior to adoption finalization.
4. Only after a home visit can the adoption agreement be finalized. The adoption fee payment of $180 is due at this time.
5. Finally, a successful applicant is expected to give serious thought to who their adopted dog’s guardian will be in case of an emergency. This entails discussing with that person in advance and communicating the information to BDR. Adopters will be required to provide contact information for their adopted dog’s emergency guardian at the time of adoption.
